Quiet Afternoon

Original acrylic on canvas, 100 x 100 cm. A woman leans forward into the light, her profile drawn in warm coral and terracotta against a wide field of cobalt sky. Below her, sand coloured ochre and soft shapes of deep green and orange suggest a shoreline seen from above, the edge of a hot afternoon by the sea. The forms are pared back to their essentials, flat planes of colour meeting in clean, confident lines. Nothing hurries. It is the feeling of a long summer day slowing down, of a moment held just before it passes. Signed by the artist.
