Celeste

Original acrylic on canvas, 100 x 80 cm. Celeste turns in a wash of pale gold, her body built from short brushstrokes of cobalt laid side by side like light broken on moving water. The blue shifts as it travels, deeper at the curve of her back, brighter across the shoulder where the light lands. Her name means of the sky, and she holds that openness. A calm profile, a soft turn of the head, a body drawn in one unhurried line. Part of the Daughters of the Sea series, where water and light take the shape of a woman.
